give with mili (Pty) Ltd (“mili”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting personal information in a lawful, responsible, and transparent manner.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, store, and protect personal information when you access or use the mili website and platform (the “Platform”).

This Policy is drafted in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA) and applies to all users of the Platform, including Givers, Recipients, and general visitors.

3. Personal Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum personal information reasonably necessary to operate the Platform and fulfil its purpose.

3.1 Information collected from Givers

When you scan a QR code, visit the Platform, or contact us, we may collect:

·       IP address

·       Device and browser information

·       Date, time, and pages accessed

·       Email address and message content (if you contact us)

Important:
mili does not collect, store, or process credit card numbers, banking PINs, or payment credentials. All payment data is handled exclusively by third-party PSPs.

3.2 Information collected from Recipients

Where Recipient on boarding or profile creation is enabled, we may collect:

·       Name and surname

·       Profile photograph

·       Short biographical or descriptive information

·       Contact details (e.g. cell phone number)

·       Identification information required for on boarding

·       Banking or PSP-linked information necessary to connect the Recipient to a third-party PSP

This information is collected only to the extent necessary to enable Platform functionality and comply with legal or PSP requirements.

3.3 Communication data

If you contact us directly (via email or forms), we collect:

·       Your email address

·       The content of your communication

4. What We Do Not Collect

To avoid ambiguity and reduce risk:

·       mili does not store payment credentials;

·       mili does not store card or banking PINs;

·       mili does not operate a wallet or stored-value account;

·       mili does not process payments internally.

5. Purpose of Processing

We process personal information only for legitimate and lawful purposes, including to:

·       operate, maintain, and improve the Platform;

·       display Recipient profiles (where applicable);

·       facilitate redirection to PSPs for payment processing;

·       verify Recipient identity during onboarding (where applicable);

·       respond to enquiries and communications;

·       improve QR code functionality and user experience;

·       comply with legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations in South Africa;

·       protect the security and integrity of the Platform.

6. Lawful Basis for Processing

We process personal information in accordance with POPIA on the following bases:

·       Consent — where users voluntarily provide information;

·       Contractual necessity — where processing is required to operate the Platform;

·       Legitimate interest — for security, fraud prevention, and service improvement;

·       Legal obligation — where required by law or regulation.

7. Disclosure and Sharing of Personal Information

We do not sell personal information.

We may disclose personal information only in the following limited circumstances:

7.1 Payment Service Providers (PSPs)

Information necessary to facilitate a transaction you initiate may be shared with a PSP. Payment processing occurs entirely within the PSP’s environment and is governed by the PSP’s own privacy policy.

7.2 Service providers

We may share limited information with trusted technical service providers (e.g. hosting, analytics, or communications) under confidentiality and data protection obligations.

7.3 Legal and regulatory authorities

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of mili, its users, or the public.

8. Third-Party Platforms and PSPs

When you initiate a payment, you leave the mili Platform and interact directly with a third-party PSP.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to PSPs. Users are encouraged to review the relevant PSP’s privacy policy before completing any payment.

9. Cookies and Analytics

mili may use cookies and similar technologies to:

·       enable core website functionality;

·       analyze traffic and usage patterns;

·       improve performance and usability.

You may disable cookies in your browser settings, though certain features of the Platform may not function correctly as a result.

10. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or destruction.

These measures may include secure hosting environments, access controls, and encryption where appropriate. However, no digital platform can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and users acknowledge this inherent risk.

11. Data Retention

Personal information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this Policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law.

When information is no longer required, it is securely deleted or anonymised.

12. Your Rights Under POPIA

As a data subject, you have the right to:
